As Scar Kit creator, plastic surgeon, and fellowship-trained craniofacial surgeon, Dr. Jeannie MacDonald understands beauty from the inside out.

Scar Kit was created as a result of Dr. MacDonald’s experience in a hospital's burn unit where silicone gel products were used to prevent and reduce scarring. Later, after hearing her surgery patients discuss their concerns about scarring, she realized how few clinically proven products were available.

“Working in the hospital, I saw that the best way to prevent and treat scarring is with silicone gel,” she said.

Postoperative scar appearance is a significant concern for patients, with many seeking advice from Dr. MacDonald about scar minimization. Scar Kit was developed so that patients could easily access silicone gel treatment kits to decrease scar formation.

Dr. MacDonald is a clinical instructor at the University of British Columbia and performs surgery at the Royal Columbian, Eagle Ridge, Surrey Memorial Hospitals and the Ambulatory Surgical Centre in Vancouver, Canada. In addition, she sits on RCH committee and is pursuing leadership training.

With over a decade of experience in facial implant remodelling and reconstruction, Dr. MacDonald has a special interest and expertise in facial surgery and body contouring. She treats patients for problems of the hand, breast, face and skin.
